5 Reasons Microneedling Is So Effective
Time can do a number on your skin, leaving blemishes, scars, and wrinkles in its wake. While there’s no shortage of products and treatments that claim to erase the signs of aging, microneedling is one of the more effective tools available.
At Lansdowne Aesthetic Center, under the expert direction of Dr. Yaqub Baraki, we offer both surgical and nonsurgical cosmetic solutions that help our clients in Leesburg/Ashburn, Virginia, realize the best version of themselves. As part of our powerful anti-aging arsenal, we offer INTRAcel™ radiofrequency (RF) microneedling, which remodels your skin, restoring a more youthful, even complexion.
Here are five reasons why microneedling is incredibly effective at breathing new life into tired skin.
1. Calling all collagen
One of the biggest culprits behind aging skin is the natural loss of collagen, the primary protein responsible for the structural support in your skin. This loss is barely noticeable at first — about 1% a year after the age of 20. But as the years go by, this gradual decline adds up and, for women, the loss accelerates as they pass through menopause.
One of the first benefits of microneedling is that the treatment creates a call for collagen. As we pass the RF needles over the surface of your skin, they create a matrix of tiny microchannels. Your tissue responds to these “injuries” with renewed collagen production, which is your body’s way of shoring up what it perceives as weakened areas.
2. The ultimate break-up
If you have blemishes, acne scars, or age spots that now mottle the once-smooth surface of your skin, our microneedling procedure breaks apart this tissue, allowing healthier tissue to take its place. This remodeling can clear away the past and provide you with a blank canvas moving forward.
3. Combination technology
Traditional microneedling relies on tiny needles alone. With our advanced INTRAcel microneedling technology, we add RF energy to the mix, which we deliver through the microchannels and into your dermis. The heating action this creates below the surface of your skin encourages collagen synthesis and cell renewal through the release of growth factors.
4. Microneedling is nonsurgical
If you’d like to do something about your aging skin, but you’re hesitant about a surgical facelift, microneedling delivers amazing results. The treatment is minimally invasive and there’s very little downtime afterward. We recommend that you undergo a series of treatments for best results — usually 2-3 — which we space apart by several weeks to allow time for your skin to respond.
5. Not just for your face
We’ve had great success using our microneedling technique to help our clients with sagging neck skin as well as stretch marks. Since the technology is minimally invasive, we can address most any area on your body where there’s a problem.
