I'm Losing My Hair: Can You Help?

I'm Losing My Hair: Can You Help?

Advanced hair transplant techniques help men and women who are losing their hair restore a lush set of locks. At Lansdowne Aesthetic Center, under the direction of experienced cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Yaqub Baraki, you benefit from follicular unit extraction (FUE). This technique takes individual hair follicles from areas of your skin and moves them to areas where hair is thinning or missing.

He uses micro punches to remove singular follicles, leaving behind little evidence of extraction. The singular follicles are expertly placed to regenerate hair in bald areas where follicles have become dormant or inactive.

FUE gives you a head of hair that looks naturally thick and voluminous. No longer do you have to worry about areas of thinning or bald spots.

Here’s how FUE can benefit you.

About FUE

During follicular unit extraction, Dr. Baraki removes individual groups of just one to four hair follicles and artfully replaces them in areas that need coverage. You can achieve more than 1,000 grafts in just one day with Dr. Baraki’s skilled hands.

The procedure itself is a type of minimally invasive surgery. Each follicle that’s extracted is placed in a sterile solution until it’s transplanted. Not all hair in one area is extracted, so donor areas remain full and thick with no linear scars that need to be camouflaged.

The transplanted hair takes on a normal growth cycle to fill in your head of hair. You’ll notice the new growth within three to four months. It continues to grow at a rate of about 1 centimeter per month.

Older forms of hair transplants required stitches and caused scarring. You’d end up with a “hair plug” look that filled in bald spots but didn’t really look natural. Older forms of hair transplants also removed strips of follicles, leaving extended scars that needed to be covered up with longer hair.

Why FUE is superior

With FUE, there’s almost no sign of extraction – even with a short haircut. You don’t have to worry about strips of missing hair from donor sites. During the procedure, you’ll experience little to no discomfort. Recovery is quick – you can resume your normal activities the next day.

Your incision areas heal within two to three days and because no stitches are used, none need to be removed.

Although the procedure may take a little longer than previous hair transplant surgeries, the results are worth it. The procedure can take just a few hours or several sessions spaced out over a few days, depending on the extent of the surgery.

Candidates for FUE

FUE has many applications and can be a solution for many reasons for hair loss. Dr. Baraki may recommend FUE if you have androgenetic alopecia, tractional alopecia, scarring alopecia, or alopecia areata. FUE can also help facial hair restoration or with hair loss caused by vitiligo.

The treatment effectively treats male- and female-pattern baldness and thinning.

If you’re bothered by hair loss, make an appointment at Lansdowne Aesthetic Center to discuss hair restoration techniques. Dr. Baraki has the experience and skill to help you grow back a healthy head of hair. Call today, or use this website to schedule your consultation.
