Lose Those Last Pesky Fat Deposits Once and for All

Lose Those Last Pesky Fat Deposits Once and for All

You’ve been committed to healthy eating and moving more, and you've taken off excess weight. In fact, you’re near your goal weight, but you’re still bothered by a belly pooch, extra volume in your thighs, or a double chin.

At Lansdowne Aesthetic Center, our skilled cosmetic surgeon Yaqub Baraki, M.D., can help. Often this extra padding just won’t respond to conventional weight-loss interventions, and you need something more.

Read on to learn how noninvasive SculpSure®, a tummy tuck, and/or minimally invasive laser liposuction can help refine your physique so that you get the body you’ve worked so hard to achieve.

What laser liposuction can do

Laser liposuction involves placing a small, laser-tipped cannula into small incisions to dissolve fat precisely and effectively. You’ll require either local or general anesthetic, depending on the area treated. Expect a few days of downtime before returning to light activity and about a month before you’re able to exercise again.

Laser liposuction provides dramatic results and can fine tune your fat removal. You discuss with Dr. Baraki the areas that are bothersome to you, and he can develop a customized, results-oriented plan.

The energy from the laser tip tightens your skin, too, so you won’t have sagging where fat once filled in specific parts.

Your results are noticeable almost immediately, but continue to improve for several months and up to a year as swelling goes down and tissue recovers.

How SculpSure works

SculpSure is a noninvasive treatment that uses heat energy to destroy fat tissue underneath the skin. The energy increases fat cells’ temperature to slightly higher than normal body temperature, so they cannot survive. Your lymphatic system removes the destroyed fat cells.

SculpSure provides results that are more subtle than those obtained with liposuction, but you can go right back to all your normal activities after a session. You’ll start to see results in about six weeks following your first session and get the best results roughly three months afterward. You may need several sessions to achieve the look you desire.

How a tummy tuck refines your physique

tummy tuck can address loose skin that linger after childbirth or a dramatic weight loss. The tummy tuck helps you achieve more youthful abdominal contours by tightening your abdominal muscles, suctioning out excess fat, and removing excess skin.

A tummy tuck is major surgery, so you’ll need to take at least two weeks off work, including jobs that are sedentary. Dr. Baraki also advises you to avoid strenuous work or lifting weights for six weeks (or longer) following the procedure.

Maintain a healthy lifestyle

With any of these body-contouring procedures, it’s important that you maintain a healthy lifestyle to prevent fat gain. Continue to eat sensibly and exercise regularly. Even though cells were suctioned away with liposuction or destroyed permanently through SculpSure, the remaining cells can still plump up if you gain weight. The effects of a tummy tuck may also be ruined by significant weight gain.
